Short answer: Bring ID (21+), sit down, order a hookah and pick a flavor, and share it with your table. Staff set it up and change the coals for you. Order drinks as you go and pay at the end.
Walking into a hookah lounge for the first time can feel like everyone knows the rules but you. There aren't many, and none of them are hard.
Your ID gets checked at the door, since Desert Rain is 21+. Then you're seated, or you can reserve a table ahead on busy nights.
Tell your server you'd like a hookah and which flavor. If you don't know, say what you like ("something fruity", "something with mint") and they'll suggest one. Every hookah is $50 at Desert Rain, whatever the flavor.
It takes a few minutes to prepare. Staff bring it to your table already lit.
Tell your server. Coals burn down over time, and keeping the hookah going is part of the service. Don't move the coals yourself.
Anything you like. Light, cold drinks are popular: soju, a margarita, beer or a Red Bull. See the menu.
A hookah lasts a good while, so most people settle in for a couple of hours. Nobody rushes you.
